Assistance for Renters
The Rental Assistance Center offers free rental readiness services to low‑income Grand Rapids residents who have had a rental housing application denied by a property owner. Prospective renters work with Grand Rapids Housing Commission staff to identify and address barriers to successful tenancy and are linked with a variety of resources that help them become ready to rent.
Rental applicants who complete the program are equipped with skills and knowledge that empower them to be good tenants as well as a portfolio of the documents needed to complete a rental housing application.
The Rental Assistance Center works to link rental property owners who have vacant units with qualified applicants.
