Where Real Estate Investors & Landlords Go for Success

Inviting All Landlords

RSVP Early to Save Your Seat and Your Free Lunch

A shortened version of the Kent County Housing Commission’s Rent This Way class will be presented to landlords and case managers to communicate about issues that might be occurring between the two parties.

Rent This Way is an eight-hour tenant education pilot program, free of cost, open to all renters and potential renters.  The program is a collaborative effort between the Kent County Housing Commission, the Inner City Christian Federation and local landlords.  Rent This Way curriculum was developed in partnership with local landlords.  During this development process, numerous landlords indicated that they are hesitant to work with voucher, transitional, or other rental assistance programs because of a lack of ongoing, effective case management, communication, and wrap around support services.

In order to help address these concerns, Rent This Way will offer a once a month, Lunch and Learn, shortened version of the Rent This Way class specifically for landlords and local agency case managers.  This class will cover tenant rights and responsibilities, the eviction process, and provide case management tools designed to support clients with obtaining and maintaining housing.  This time will also be used to discuss the expectations, misunderstandings, and concerns landlords have had with case management and rental assistance programs in the past, as well as issues caseworkers have had with landlords.  Each class will end with a discussion on how we can better work together to make these essential partnerships stronger.  Landlords and local agency case managers are invited to this dialogue.

The first lunch and learn is next week:
