RPOA of Michigan Successfully Stops Reregistration and Reinspection for Change of Ownership Type
The RPOA of Michigan worked diligently over the past two years with Senator Dale Zorn to add language to the Housing Law of Michigan to prevent municipalities from requiring expensive reregistration and reinspection where a simple change of ownership type has occurred, e.g. from individual ownership to an LLC where the same individuals are represented. The bill (Senate Bill 0016) was passed in May and recently signed by the Governor. The new law and change go into effect August 17, 2021.
